All players must pay all registration costs for their respective team(s) before they are eligible to participate. Costs vary depending on the type/number of team(s) for which that player is playing.
Referee fees are not included in initial registration costs. Teams pay referees in cash at the field prior to each match; teams are responsible for collecting these fees from players. Cost is $100 per team per game for all men's and coed 11v11 games for a 3-man referee crew. Men's 7v7 teams pay $30 per game for one referee.

Before a team’s first game: If a player has already registered, but determines that he or she cannot play during the up-coming season (schedule change, injury, etc.) prior to his/her team’s first scheduled match, then that player may request a refund of all fees paid during registration prior to the date of their team's first match (minus the processing fees charged by active.com). The player must email the registrar at: registrar@memphissoccer.com to request a refund. (If you aren't about the status of an injury, it is best to notify the registrar anyway.)
During a team’s first game: If a player is injured during his or her team's first match, and will be unable to participate further in that season (or thinks that they MIGHT be unable to participate further), that player may request that registration fees be "held" for future use. A "hold" means that fees cannot be refunded, but rather can be applied to a future season in which that player can participate, up to 18 months out from the date of the injury. (This is done for insurance purposes related to an injury.)
To request a hold on registration fees, the player must notify the league registrar in writing (registrar@memphissoccer.com) within seven days of the injury, or prior to his team’s next match, whichever comes first. (Again, if you aren't about the status of an injury, it is best to notify the registrar anyway
For example, if a player is injured during the first game of the Spring 2020 season, that player may ask that fees be "held" by the league, to be used for either the Fall 2020, Spring 2021 or Fall 2021 season. After the Fall 2021 season, the fees are forfeited to the league, if the player has not resumed participation at that point. The player would need to contact the registrar via email to indicate that they wish to use their "held" fees to register for that season.
In either case above, the team’s manager must void any copies of that player’s league-issued player pass.
After a team’s first match: If a player is injured at any point after their team’s first match, or determines that he/she cannot continue to participate for any other reason, that player is no longer eligible for a refund. All registration fees (payable for field rental to the Mike Rose Soccer Complex, Tennessee Soccer state registration, etc.) are paid to those respective entities around this time, and once paid, are no longer refundable.
Timeframe For Refunds: All refunds are usually processed as a group, approximately 10 days after the end of that season's registration period (roster freeze deadline), which is typically the third or fourth week of September (in the Fall), or the last week of March (in the Spring). On-line payment refunds should show up as a credit on your next applicable statement. If you do not see your refund in the expected time frame, please contact the registrar for a status update.
A secondary insurance policy is available as part of each player's state registration. Players who are injured during a regular GMSA match may file an insurance claim with Tennessee Soccer. NOTE: If you are injured in a match, and believe filing an insurance claim may be necessary, be sure to ask the center referee to document the injury in their official report to the state office. All injuries must be noted in this way in order for a claim to be filed. Referees will normally do this for "obvious" injuries, but if the injury is more innocuous, you may need to ask.
Beginning in January 2024, all insurance claims must be filed online. Paper/PDF forms will no longer be accepted.
