The Event:
 
“Rylee’s Run 5k” commemorates the life of Rylee Rae Vinson, who was born August 16, 2007 at 32 weeks and passed away eight days later due to complications of premature birth.  Rylee’s parents, Jason and Jessica Vinson, pillars of the Greater Memphis Soccer Association, established the RIBS soccer tournament in 2010 to help raise money for the charities that have meant to much to them over the last several years...the March of Dimes, and the LeBonheur Children's Hospital Neuroscience Institute.
 
To further honor Rylee’s memory and to repay the kindness and invaluable help extended to the Vinson family by these organization, Rylee’s Run 5k, held the Friday before the RIBS tournament, will serve to give back to these worthy causes, in the hope that they will continue to help families in situations similar to Rylee’s and that they may find additional ways to prevent prematurity so that, as the MOD slogan says, “one day, all babies will be born healthy.”

This is a family event, open to runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels.  It will be held on the 5K course inside the beautiful Mike Rose Soccer Complex, with an exciting finish inside the 3,000-seat soccer-specific stadium.  Hundreds of runners, joggers and walkers have made each edition of this race a huge success!  We're hoping for another big crowd this year!

Some wonderful post-race food was provided in the form of pasta by Old Venice!  And this year, for you adults, we plan to have some ice cold beer for you to "cool down" with after the race!  So mark your calendars, and register today for the 2016 event on Friday, May 20th!
